The word spread quickly around Syracuse that an Orange Out was being called for when Georgetown’s Mens basketball team would come to town on Saturday, February 14. Websites and blogs proclaimed it. Even going so far as to propose a ban on anyone NOT wearing orange entering the Carrier Dome for the game. A nice thought but, as it turned out, there were a lot of fans who wore blue, white or no SU colors at all. Sigh, why can’t Syracuse go all out when asked? Really, we need some more spirit around here!

The Syracuse University Bookstore was selling special shirts for the game for only $10. A bargain for anything SU sells. I guess the University can get behind something if they can make some money on it.
The SU students knew what an Orange Out was all about. Their section was almost completely bright orange. As a fellow Alum, you made me proud!
As promised, some of the Georgetown fans made it up for the game. They stuck out like a sore thumb with their drab grey and blue colors. The policemen ensuring their safety get a bye on the Orange Out as they were working. 🙂
While the Orange fans had a scare watching their team’s 16 point lead dwindle to a tie at the end of regulation. SU won it in overtime, 98-94. Go Orange!
Whoa, that’s a LOT of orange!!! Sounds like it was a pretty good game!
It was a bit of a let down as they did blow a big lead in the last 5 minutes but the guys gutted it out in overtime. That was exciting as they did not give up even after losing the lead about half way through.
It nice that SU has a ditinctive color for their school. Very few other colleges use orange as their main color. It’s usually blue with some orange. But not us! 🙂
I’ve always liked the Syracuse orange and it’s good to see so much of it in the dome! Maybe that comes from way back when I was in grade school and our color was orange. On game days they would let those of us on the team wear our solid orange jerseys to class.
Hi, Terry! Do you still wear orange in the fall or do you stay away from public hunting areas? 🙂
The Dome was a rocking for most of the game but got a bit pensive towards the end. Big sigh of relief when the OT was over and the ‘Cuse had prevailed.
Unfortunately, wearing orange during hunting season is state-wide no matter where you are. I like orange, but not in the woods.
Nice shots Scott! I particularly like that first one — it ought to be on the cover of the recruiting brochure that they send to the high school kids.
Nice pictures, it was a great day indeed for Orange fans.

Thanks, Josh and Chuck! I thought you might like this post. 🙂
Thanks for the linkback and credit, Josh! Sometimes being in the last row isn’t a bad thing. LOL
Sounds like it was a great game. Great series of photos.
Wish I was selling the T-shirts — $cha-ching$
Laurie, it turned into a great game. Thanks for stopping by!
Paul, if there’s a buck to be made, SU is all for it! Personally, I think they should have made up a few thousand and given them away to people who needed something Orange to wear. But, hey, I don’t run the University. Which is probably a good thing. 🙂
