A red Sugar Maple leaf on the Bog trail of Beaver Lake Nature Center, Baldwinsville, New York.
Now that the Autumnal Equinox has passed, I went out looking for signs of autumn at the Beaver Lake Nature Center near my hometown of Baldwinsville, New York. I headed to the Bog Trail because I knew I’d find the first signs there as trees and shrubs on a bog are very stressed. Stressed because the bog environment is very acidic as nature proceeds to transform the stagnate wetland to terra firma using Sphagnum mosses as her main architect.
Another sign of autumn is the flocks of migrating Canadian Geese using Beaver Lake as a stop off on their way to points south for the winter months.

Both are beautiful optimistic autumn photos. You are right about the light, it has such a big influence on our mood. I like the balance you have created here.

The balance is what drew me back to these photos as I was going through the photos for the day. The air was so clear and crisp and I think these two capture that.

Love the fall colors in the first picture. Sadly, we don’t get much of that here, so I’m hoping to see lots more fall colors on your blog.

In the bog there’s lots of color. The other trees are just beginning to show some color. I hope in a couple of weeks for a lot more. Stay tuned!

Sure like the vivid colors of the leaf as well as the blurred background showcasing the leaf.

Yet another example of using the 50mm f/1.8 lens for selective focus. The lens really separated the leaf from a very busy background but did keep it colorful, too.
