Male African Lion on the Kilimanjaro Safari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Must have been the cool December morning which got him up and about. Normally, he is sleeping as most cats do.
This photo is the first of mine to reach 10,000 views on flickr and the only time I have seen the male up and moving on this attraction to date.

Impressive Scott! I know how hard a shot this is! I am guessing this is highly cropped (due to all the digital noise?)

It’s cropped a bit but the digital noise is coming from the high ISO used. It was early in the morning with a cloudy sky. I was shooting in Shutter priority mode at 1/500th of a second with a slow lens (Nikon 80-200mm f/3.5-5.6) which brought the ISO up to 800 on the Nikon D70.

Our family was just discussing if that Lion was real or not. We have done the safari 3 years in a row and never seen the Lion.
