Another upstate New York summer delicacy, spiedies consists of cubes of chicken, pork, lamb, veal, venison or beef. The meat cubes are marinated in a special marinade, then grilled on skewers. A couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed Buffalo Wing and traditional spiedie sauce on chicken.

Do you have any special summer foods you enjoy?
What’s the marinade? For summer I like just about anything BBQed, tacos, or some soups, like Tonkinese and egg & lemon.

Your soups sound intriguing. I don’t think of soups in the summer. As for the sauce, click here for the best: http://www.spiedie.com/

Thanks for the link! Tonkinese soup is a Vietnamese beef noodle soup that is light yet satisfying and different but not strange. Who would know better than the Vietnamese what to eat on a hot and humid day? Egg and lemon soup is a traditional Greek soup that takes at least a day to make, unless you cheat and start off with a can of Campbell’s chicken and rice soup. It only takes 10 minutes and if you’re serious about trying it I’ll send you the recipe.

Sounds delicious. Summer to me is all about fresh fruits and veggies, and easy things thrown on the grill. These look like they could fit that parameter!

They would make a 100% fit. I wonder if the sauce is available in your local stores. If not, order it online. Good stuff!
