A Christmas Gift

As it’s been a little crazy since I got back from vacation, I haven’t been out doing any photography.  Been planning another trip which I’ll tell you all about next week.  As my gift to all of you, I am showing you what Niagara Falls looks like in mid-December.  Yes, the glittering sparkles off the railings and light is ice.  Coated by the constant mist from nearby Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

This photo was taken in December of 2007 during the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights in Ontario, Canada, a couple months before I started this blog.  It was bitterly cold that night, slippery as all get out and my tripod kept sliding around until I kicked out a place in ice to put the legs into.  It was also my first try at cold weather photography.  Something I will be doing soon (again, more on that later).

It’s been a tough year for my family.  We’ve lost loved ones to cancer and are missing them dearly this holiday season.  However, life goes on as will this blog into it’s third year.  Thank you all who come by frequently and welcome to any new guests who are stopping by.  Come again so, in time, I may call you a friend.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Scott Thomas

We feel the losses even deeper in these holydays.
You have people out here who want to call you a friend Scott.

Every holiday brings around a “missing” that we are somehow able to push down and live with throughout the year. The missing seems to arise fresh at those significant moments throughout the year, and mingled with the joy are thoughts of those who are no longer with us. The pain dulls with time, but never truly goes away, does it?
Wishing you and yours a healing and joyous 2010, Friend!
