Mushrooms and Ferns photographed at the Beaver Lake Nature Center. Nikon D700/28-300VR, 1/30s, f/5.6, ISO 900, EV 0, 300mm focal length.
Went out looking for autumn color last week. My area is still far from peak. Some trees showed color here and there. Overall, I did not get much from the Beaver Lake Nature Center near Baldwinsville, New York. When out looking for landscapes do not overlook micro landscapes like these mushrooms and ferns I noticed on a fallen log next to where I was photographing. As you can see by the green ferns, at the time I took this, autumn had a ways to go. However, we did have a wide spread frost over the weekend which should spur autumn along.
That turned out really beautiful!
Are you any closer to getting a macro lens yet?

After getting a new camera and lens this year, a macro lens purchase is going to have to wait. However, it would be a good winter project to rent one for a time.

Blogs about fungus seem to be mushrooming today! 😉 Have you been over to Gerry’s place where she’s been sorting through a mushroom mystery?

Alas, I have been behind in my blog reading as of late. I will scoot over there to see what it’s all about. It is good fungus weather lately. 🙂

We’ve had lots of fungus activity lately too, with a wet, cool but not cold fall so far. Glad to see you made it home safely!

Your picture is very good. It has a fine composition and a real ‘autumn-mood color palette’.
When it comes to classification of the fungi it lacks details. My first guess is: Galerina paludosa, but we need more details to be sure. I my guess is right: Don’t eat them, they are poisonous.

cool shot, it does still look so green over there. Hope you are having a great day today.

Lush, dreamy landscape. The mushrooms look tender and caressable, as if they could not possibly hurt you. Baby coral snakes are probably cute, too.
And a shout out to Karma, who got you to visit me!

I saw one on Saturday also, but it’s nothing comparing to yours.

I love this one. I actually prefer these little worlds. Now if only it would cool off enough for me to make my way back into the woods.
