Black-capped Chickadee

A Black-capped Chickadee (Poecile atricapillus) in the Northern Red Cedar tree next to my house. While not a great shot, it was the best from my first outing with the Nikon 80-400 VR Zoom lens. Did this hand-held, too.

As soon as time and weather permit, I’m off to the zoo to give this lens a proper shakedown.

  1. Hi Scott!
I saw your link on Half Hour A Day’s blog and thought I’d check it out. I like your blog, and this is a great shot!
I shoot with a D70s and have the 80-400 VR Zoom as well. Great lens!

I love the 80-400VR. Many people have a hard time with it. It takes a bit to learn how to use it within it’s limits. Those that do are awarded with one of the best lenses with this much reach at a good price.

Even though our D70’s are getting a bit long in the tooth, they are wonderful cameras. Nikon’s first real dSLR, IMO.
