B’ville from Space

I was trying to come up with a unique idea since I have featured my hometown of Baldwinsville (known as B’ville to many in these parts), New York several times on this blog.  The one idea I had went by the wayside when the Mite tournament opportunity presented itself last week.  Then, Carsten posted the Google map of the Seneca River and this post was born.  Thanks, Carsten!

This satellite view of the bridge and some of Paper Mill Island will show you where the photos are located by the numbers you see.  The area changes from year to year and seasonally.  There are stories to be found, told and shared each time I drive or walk through here and this is just a small, though very important, section of the village of Baldwinsville.

Below are the photos which go with each numbered map location.  Some are new to you while others I’ve used previously.  I have included links to the blog posts for photos I’ve used before (see photo captions.)

Oh, that is neat to have a map to go along with the photos. Wonderful shots and I especially like the ‘River Runs Through It’ and the semi caught in motion. A picturesque view of your hometown, Scott. I was unable to do the assignment for hometown but I enjoyed those who did. 🙂

    • I have to thank Carsten for the Google map idea. I like the river shot, too. Should have weather like in about a month again. The funny thing about the truck photo is they are banned from going through town yet I see them all the time. Wish they would enforce that law.

Wish you could have joined us, Anna. Your new websites/blogs are looking great, btw.

    Very interesting Scott.
I can’t stop wondering how many images you would have presented if the satelite photo had covered a larger part of B’ville. Maybe it was just a lucky crop..
Nice light on the restaurant in #1. I can see that it is late afternoon, now that we have the satelite photo.

Neat idea Scott! I, sadly, have not yet been so brilliant! What I found interesting in looking at your photos, is that, all of these COULD have been taken in MY hometown.. the bridge, the waterside restaurant, the industrial yard. Just goes to show that most places aren’t all that different. Q – Is it just me, or does the truck look like it is travelleing backwards?

Great idea linking a series of photos by a satellite image. I particularly like #2, as I have just spent the last week preparing a portfolio on “Movement”. Posted one of the shots yesterday (Sport Relief Mile) which did not make it into the portfolio.

Okay…you’re giving me a bit of an HDR itch. 🙂 Gonna have to give it a try, methinks.

Love that truck photo! And really love the Google map idea. Well done Cars-cott. 😉
